MUSIC & MAKING

Listen to beautiful music performed by Subaiou Zhang (violin) and Alyssa Lawson (cello) from Spectacle Collective while you enjoy casual making in our lovely and intimate performance space.

The Music

You will be listening to music for violin and cello across different styles. Music with a theme of spring will range from 18th century French baroque, to jazz and tango.

The Making

Enjoy casual making while relaxing to beautiful music. Options will include a pair of musical and spring-themed coasters (up to two per ticket) or a laser cut picture frame for your music inspired water color art.

Materials will include laser cut wooden coasters and backing pieces, acrylic and water color paints, water color paper, glue, clamps, and glass.

Refreshments and snacks will be served. You may bring your own wine or beer for your enjoyment during the show.

MEET THE PERFORMERS

Violinist Subaiou Zhang performs actively in the Greater Boston area on both modern and baroque violins, including recent solo appearances with the Wellesley Symphony in 2016 and the Brookline Symphony in 2017. Subaiou is currently pursuing a doctorate in Violin Performance at Boston University. Other than music, Subaiou’s favorite making activities are sewing and sketching.

Cellist Alyssa Lawson has performed with diverse ensembles, including the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Arabic Ensemble, and The Morning Architect. Alyssa holds a master's degree in cello performance from Boston University, where she studied with Michael Reynolds. She is also a Fulbright scholar (Belgium, 2009-2010) with degrees in French and Ethnomusicology.
