Rising 6th and up : 8 weeks : Mondays 3:30pm-4:30pm : January  25, 2021 - March 22, 2021 (no class on 2/15)

Come along on a creative journey and discover the inspiration that comes from keeping a sketchbook. This class will begin with an introduction to digital drawing in order to design and laser cut your very own personalized, wood cover sketchbook. After producing your sketchbook, you will then learn ways of filling up its pages. Each week you will learn a new sketchbook technique such as sketching, collage, bullet journaling, calligraphy, and print-making. You will also have plenty of time to relax and practice skills in a chill and supportive environment. You will leave this class with new artistic skills and lots of ideas about ways to keep up your sketchbook practice. Let's get inspired!

WHAT WE WILL DO:

• Learn about types of sketchbook/journal keeping
• Practice digital drawing skills to design your sketchbook cover
• Learn about laser cutting capababilities
• Create a vector illustration file for laser cutting
• Sand, paint, and create an watercolor backing page for your laser cut sketchbook
• Explore creative techniques in art, design, and writing

• Gravit Designer (Vector drawing software)
• RD Works (Laser cutting software)
• Laser cutter
• Art and making supplies

• Acrylic paint (at least one or two colors other than white)

• Access to a printer (optional)
