ART, TECH & DESIGN
The ultimate makerspace experience! The goal of Summer Makers is to create excitement and energy around making. We provide young makers a mix of technical and creative skills that foster confidence in their ability to bring ideas and designs to life.
Summer Maker students will explore the rich world of a STEAM-based, Art-Tech maker environment including learning about design software and principals, laser cutting, woodworking, CNC milling, finishing techniques, 3D printing, electronics, building, engineering, painting, drawing, sewing, and fiber arts.

What a Day at Summer Makers Looks Like
Arrival/Departure: The Makery is conveniently located on Sewall Street (near Trader Joe’s). There is metered parking along Sewall Avenue. Adults are welcome to come inside for droff-off and pick-up however, we can arrange assistance with outdoor meetup.
Group Meeting Time: During our group meeting times students will learn and practice a new skill in our makerspace environment.
Brainstorming and Independent Project Time: Students will have time each day to brainstorm and work on an independent or small group project. Instructors will provide expert guidance and skills to help bring the projects to life. Students will receive a considerable amount of individual attention while working on their projects; we provide a 4:1 student teacher ratio.
Special Guest Speakers: Each week of Summer Makers will feature a special guest speaker. We will be working with community professionals and local makers to provide students with real world examples of making in action.
Break Times: Weather permitting we will take children outdoors to local parks for fun, games, and activities. During inclimate or extreme weather conditions students are able to gather in our comfortable lounge areas for activities and games.
Snack and Lunch: Students should bring a snack and lunch. We are not a nut-free facility, but we ask that students only bring nut-free food items since they will be eating together. Refrigeration is available for snacks and lunch.
