Andy Goldsworthy: Natural Sculptures
Andy Goldsworthy is a British sculptor, photographer, and environmentalist who produces natural sculptures and land art in natural and urban settings. He lives and works in Scotland. He uses natural materials and documents both the building and the decay process. Goldsworthy sculptures are often intricate and require precision and patience to build. Goldsworthy crafts his installations out of rocks, ice, leaves, or branches, twigs, stones, mud, aware that the passage of time will change the sculptures.
HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HIS WORK
Using Goldworthy’s work as inspiration
● Collect natural materials
● Arrange, balance, organize materials in an interesting way.
● Decide if you want to glue objects to make them permanent or you want to create something impermanent and document its decaying process with photographs.
